🔴🔵TUAM RFC CLUBMAN OF THE YEAR AWARD 2021🔴🔵

EOIN COSGROVE was the deserved recipient of the 2021 Tuam RFC clubman of the year. He was presented with his award at the annual Christmas Day one mile walk at Garraun Park yesterday morning by Club President Declan Slattery.

As well as being an integral part of the first team where he excels at out-half, Eoin has been the driving force behind the club's fundraising efforts in recent years.

With Covid 19 putting a stop to rugby being played in March 2020, Eoin turned his attentions to not only fundraising for the club but to give something back to local businesses who had taken a big hit due to enforced restrictions. He came up with "Tuam RFC'S 100k shop local challenge" where people were encouraged to shop in the town and send their receipts into the club where they were entered into a draw for a voucher for one of Tuam's businesses. This created a real feel good factor in the town at a time where many businesses were struggling. It proved a hugely successful initiative.

Eoin then turned his focus on raising funds for the club whose income also had been severely hampered by Covid 19 but bills still had to be paid. "Cossie" as he is better known by all in the club, came up with online shop local raffles with the emphasis on purchasing the prizes in Tuam. Again this proved hugely popular and as well as becoming the main fundraising income for the club, Tuam RFC have spent over ten thousand in the last two years in Tuam businesses to fund their draws.

On the field Eoin has been a magnificent servant for the club and is still strutting his stuff in the J1A league. To say he is a worthy recipient of the clubman of the year would be an understatement. Something which is echoed by first team head coach Barry Ruane.

"I would like to extend a huge congratulations to Cossie on been named the club person of the year by our president Declan Slattery yesterday morning at the Christmas mile.

"From a personal point of view I would like to say that without Cossie behind the scenes this year the club would be nowhere near it is financially. A true clubman in everyway and this award is only a small token of thanks from the club. From myself and all my family involved in the club thank you Cossie. Congratulations buddy."
